Tomato or Tomatoe?

by: Sonya Ahern | in: Blogs, Thoughts of a BEAR | on: 11/02/2010

We have all heard the expression ‘The Customer is Always Right’ or ‘The Customer is King’ however who really is your customer?  Of course, the simple explanation would be someone who pays for your goods or services, but is that a narrow definition of one that is vitally important to the existence of a company?

A customer should be anyone you deal with in your everyday business life, whether that be the person that makes your sandwich at the cafe shop, or the courier driver that drops of the packages at reception  or the staff member in the other department.  All these people are also your customer.

For a company to run efficiently there must be harmony within the staff and by treating all staff members as your customer, harmony is therefore created.    Learn to prioritise your day and give equal importance to the requirements of your internal customers, so that they may too, be able to respect you as their customer in return.  There is an old sales expression that states a happy customer tells a friend and an unhappy customer tells 9.  Just remember that ‘friend’ may also be your boss who decides your future payrise or promotion.
